Welcome to PastReply (“the Site”). By accessing or using pastreply.com you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

1. What the Site Is

PastReply is an AI-assisted question-and-answer platform. It surfaces trending questions people are asking, produces a single factual base answer using AI, and then re-voices that answer through 100 of the most famous humans of history - so you can read how each figure might frame the same facts. Registered users can also post their own answers and reply to the AI answers. The Site does not produce original journalism.

2. AI-Simulated Perspectives

The answers attributed to historical figures are AI-generated simulations created for commentary and entertainment. They are not real statements by those individuals, their estates, or their representatives, and they are not endorsements of any view. Depictions of controversial figures are presented through a factual, historically-grounded lens and are not endorsements. Do not rely on any persona answer as the actual position of the person it imitates.

3. No Warranties on Accuracy

Content is generated by AI and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. PastReply is provided “as is” without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Always verify important information with authoritative sources.

4. Accounts and User Content

To post answers or replies you must create an account with a username, email, and optional avatar, and confirm your email. You are responsible for the content you submit and for keeping your account secure. You retain ownership of what you post but grant PastReply a non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and store it on the Site. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. User Conduct

When using the Site you agree not to:

• Post hateful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or unlawful content, or content that impersonates others.
• Submit content that is caught by our prohibited-language filter, or attempt to evade it.
• Scrape or harvest content, or send automated requests, at a rate that degrades Site performance for other users.
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, backoff, or access controls.
• Use the Site to distribute spam or malicious content, or to submit false information in any form.

6. Newsletter / Digest

By subscribing to the digest you consent to receiving periodic email from PastReply. Subscriptions use double opt-in - you must confirm via the link we email you. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email. We will never sell your email address.

7. Voting

Votes on questions, answers, and replies are rate-limited by IP address to curb abuse.

8. Intellectual Property

The Site’s design, code, and generated content are owned by or licensed to PastReply. Persona portraits are sourced from Wikimedia Commons and remain subject to their original licenses and attributions. If you are a rights holder with a concern, contact us at hello@pastreply.com.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PastReply and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
